This book is the first in Griffin’s series entitled Men at War. Griffin is a prolific writer of “historic fiction” that chronicles events of WWII through recurring characters. His obvious knowledge of events and people central to the formation of intelligence agencies inclines the reader to think he is “getting away with something”. This book follow two young Navy fighter jocks from their participation in the first flyover at a USNA graduation to China, the Phillipines and North Africa. Many amazing singular events that helped turn the tide are involved throughout. If you like Clancy for his portrayal of modern military fiction, you will like Griffin for his historical cant. There are 4 Griffin books in the library.
